a. Charles Medley Distillers Kentucky
(CMDK) is currently undergoing
renovation. Upon
completion in mid-2009 the plant will begin production
of Traditional
Kentucky Bourbon. This will be the main product
manufactured
at the plant.
b. The plant is expected to produce more
than 32,000 barrels annually,
with each barrel
holding 53 gallons.
c. The bourbon will be aged at least
four years before bottling. While there is
currently not a
label or brand developed for this bourbon, Angostura plans
to develop a
brand before bottling commences.
d. All the water used in production
comes from deep wells located on the
property.
e. There are currently plans to employ
about 30 people at the site, with
applications
being accepted during second quarter 2009.
f. The plant consists of 19 building on two sites covering 28.3 total acres.
g. There are seven warehouses on site, five
four-story tile warehouses dating
from the 1930s,
1949s and 1959s, and two six-story metal buildings built
in the 1970s.
Each warehouse has wooden racks with a capacity of
approximately 20,000
barrels each.
h. There are plans to eventually
include the facility in the Kentucky Bourbon
Trail. This is a
tour route that connects some of
bourbon
makers. A visitor’s center, tours and sampling are all items being
discussed
for the future of CMDK.
